Hip Hop Album Sales: Kanye West & Kid Cudi's "KIDS SEE GHOSTS" Debuts At #2 On Billboard 200

This week was a good week for KIDS SEE GHOSTS, the collaboration between Kanye West and Kid Cudi. It wasn’t as great a week for Yeezy as a solo artist, however. Meanwhile, Superfly‘s soundtrack, Ne-Yo’s latest offering, and Jorja Smith’s debut album all made appearances on the charts for the first time.

The duo’s self-titled debut album made its official premiere on the Billboard 200 at #2. With 90 million-plus streams and nearly 80,000 in pure album sales, the album didn’t do quite as well as Yeezy’s ye first-week sales (84,860 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 180,085,322), but did better than Pusha T’s DAYTONA (39,208 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 53,818,877). That said, DAYTONA is still the former Clipse rapper’s best-performing solo album to date.

KIDS SEE GHOSTS is being kept out of the #1 spot by the Dave Matthews Band, whose new album, Come Tomorrow, made its debut on the charts this week.

Superfly Soundtrack, Good Man, and Lost & Found All Debut

The Superfly Original Motion Picture Soundtrack made its debut at #25 on the Billboard 200. The album, which is dominated by Future collaborating with the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Sleepy Brown, Young Bans, and Lil Wayne, only had 5,215 in pure album sales, but 11,660 in individual song sales, and almost 17 million in total streams.

#GOODMAN the album is available RIGHT NOW (link in bio). I hope you all enjoy the journey put to music. Caterpillar, Cocoon, the struggle and eventually the joy of spreading love’s wings as a fly ass butterfly. We are all a work in process. Work hard. #goodmanseason #neyo #newmusicfriday

This is so so crazy. ‘Lost & Found’ at number 3 on the UK Album chart. Thank you everybody so much for supporting, listening, enjoying ‘Lost & Found’ 💕 Means the world to me. The songs on the album are written from 16-20, just me writing, growing, finding myself, losing myself too. Just life, Thank you.
