Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie recently channeled their inner “fresh” by taking on a Hip Hop classic.
The two characters, who are responsible kid-friendly songs like “I Love My Room” and “D-U-C-K-I-E,” put their own spin on the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The song, which is originally performed by Will Smith, starts with Bert dropping the line, “Now, this is a song all about how my life got flipped, turned up eyebrow.”
“On Sesame Street, born and raised. Learning letters, numbers, singing ‘Sunny Days,’” Bert continues.
Oscar The Grouch gets name-dropped on the Sesame Street remake, too.
“There I met a Grouch who didn’t smell too good,” Bert continues. “Told me to ‘Scram! Leave the neighborhood.’ It was then I remembered what my mom used to say ‘Keep your head up, be kind, and you’ll find your way.”
While Smith has never appeared on Sesame Street, notable MCs who have appeared on the long-running show include Ice Cube and will.i.am.
